Any insurer covering Cancer Targeted Therapy treatment
I see many insurers are covering chemotherapy, radiation therapy and etc. But any company is covering Cancer Targeted Therapy treatment?
Dear Vitruvivan,
Almost all plans to my mind do cover radio & chemo therapies for treatment of cancer.
Plans now also cover immunotherapy for cancer treatment.
My understanding is Targeted Therapy is a modern treatment and insurers consider it as unproven & experimental treatment and hence will not get coverage unless it is specified wording.
I do recall a plan from HDFC Ergo iCan that does cover Targeted Therapy. This however is a cancer specific plan. There also are some cancer specific plans that are helpful as they make a lumpsum payout in early as well as late stage cancers. The lumpsum amount so received can be used for any kind of treatment.
I hope this was helpful to you. You may schedule a call incase you wish to discuss more on the topic.

Hi Vitruvian Man,
If you mean whether cancer related treatment is covered in your health insurance, it'll be covered.
As of now, there's no exclusion with regards to health insurances not covering chemotherapy or related hospitalisation in health insurances
If you wish to buy specific critical illness cover, you can buy Cancer Protection plans or Critical illness cover, where a lumpsum will be paid in case of detection of the specified illness as per T&C
