My spouse suffering from ulcerative colitis. Her condition is a stable and her medication will be for long time for this auto immune disease. Since other well known auto immune disease like arthritis are covered there is no clarity if the under writters understand UC disease.

She already covered in other family floater and I wanted to take a super top-up for our family. Does any insurance cover this PED.

Hello Prashant,

No insurance company we know will cover this medical condition from Day 1. You will have to go through the usual pre-existing disease waiting period (2, 3, 4 years depending on insurer to insurer) before the cover (for PED) starts.

Our recommendation would be to ensure that you review your current cover and get adequate coverage that is relevant for a lifetime for the entire family as soon as possible, irrespective of immediate cover for the pre-existing disease.
