Can we claim cashless multiple super top up policies in single claim
Dear
Members
I have already a base policy of 10 lakhs and super top up of 25 Lakhs with 10 lakhs deductible in Manipal Cigna Company . I also have a accumulated NCB of 5 lakhs in Manipal Cigna.
I want to take another super top up policy of 25 lakhs with 5 lakhs deductible from Star health considering the Covid -19 situation and rising medical inflation.
i want to use Base Policy of 10 lakhs for claiming 1st super top up and accumulated NCB of 5 lakhs for claiming 2nd super top up. Can i do like this?
My query is if am hospitalized and the medical bill is more than 60 lakhs. Can i claim total 60 lakhs in cashless from all 3 policies. Kindly explain the procedure to be followed in order to claim all 3 policies in single cashless hospitalization.
Hey Ashok,
I wouldn't advise you to add Star Health to your exiting portfolio of 2 insurance policies from Max Bupa. It will only complicate your life.
I am not aware of your health background, so let me assume that you don't have any significant health issues/history. With that sorted, I suggest that you port you base policy of 10 lakhs to another company, where you can also port your super top-up and that top-up can be higher, like 50-75 lakhs.
ICICI Lombard has pretty high limits in top-up plans. You can explore more. But always prefer to maintain plans with same insurer.

Hey Ashok,
You can use all your health insurance policies in a single claim instance. The sequence would be as follows -
1) Use your base policy for the first 10 lacs
2) Use your super top-up for the next 25 lacs after the deductible of 10 lacs is met by your base policy
3) Use the other super top-up (that you may buy) if the claim goes beyond 35 lacs.
Cashless settlement works well if all your health insurance policies (base as well as super top up) are from the same Insurer (due to seamless documentation).
Otherwise, you first claim from your base health insurance policy using cashless settlement & then apply for reimbursement from your super top-up policy after discharge (with a copy of all your original hospital bills and settlement letter from the Insurer that administers your base policy).
On a separate note, I don't recommend buying another super top up to enhance your health insurance coverage. Rather explore the following options -
a) Increase your coverage in the first super top-up to the extent you can.
b) Buy a Critical Illness insurance. All high value claims are likely to be on account of a critical illness & CI insurance works well in that case.
I hope this helps.
Best Wishes,
Asad Akbar
