Cashless vs Reimbursement percentage in Retail Health Insurance
Hello team,
I saw this "Around 68% of the claims are reimbursement claims and only 32% are cashless, according to a report titled India Health Insurance XP Survey – 2020 by Beshak, a research platform for insurance users." in an old Mint article.
I work in insurance industry (also do data analysis) and in my short experience in Group health policies, for number of claims cashless is 65% and Reimbursement 35%. Also 2/3rd of Reimbursement claims were pre-post, hence for hospitalization cases, Reimbursement was just 10-12%.
Recently an organisation working in this domain mentioned that cashless reimbursement is 50-50.
Just wanted to understand what's the cashless vs Reimbursement percentage for retail health. Any source of information would be greatly appreciated
Hello Saurabh,
The survey we conducted at Beshak was based entirely on the responses of the participants who took part in the survey. As for the availability of data comparing cashless vs. reimbursement percentages for retail health insurance, I don't think there's any source that provides such information.
Hope this clarifies. Thank you!
