Child is underweight, leading to Loading
Hi,
A friend is applying for Niva Bupa health insurance policy, the relationship manager is suggesting that we increase the weight by 5-7 kgs for the two children as they are slightly underweight. If the actual weight is being disclosed, it leads to a loading of 10% each.
The relationship manager is suggesting, that it will not be an issue as the kids' weight varies. We want to believe the RM and pay a lower premium, however, we don't want to be in a situation where to save a 3-4 thousand, the claim does not get approved when the time arises.
Dear Ravi
Health insurance is a protection even if with 10 % loading .
You can submit a letter about history of health with height and weight .
If both parent are thin then children can be underweight, underwriters can review their decision on loading .

Hi Ravi,
Transparency is the key to a hassle-free claim experience in any health insurance plan. Hiding the material facts such as details of the medical history including the accurate height & weight of the members could lead to several complications during claims in the future. Please do not fall for such short-term tricks advised by the insurance salespersons. Though it might look as if they are trying to help you initially, such decisions could hit your insurance benefits very badly in the future.
I'm sure you would agree with the fact that there is no point in being penny-wise pound foolish.
Please suggest to your Friend that they declare the accurate details, pay the loading premium if necessary & be an informed, confident & clever policyholder.
Hope this helps.
