Hi Expert

I want to cover me and my wife both 31 years

My wife suffered from GBS in 2019 and still recovering

  1. Is she eligible for either of the illness cover?
  2. Which one should we consider full critical illness or diseases specific covers?

Dear Rikin

GBS is a auto immune disorder which is not insurable .

My answer

1. First buy a health cover for you Rs 5 lakh plus top up of rs 20 lakh .so you ate covered while you are healthy .

2. Try with Star and Bupa for your wife with all declaration. Ask for 20 % copay plan . Apply for Rs 20 lakh sum assured . Agrre for waiting period . They may accept case with 2 year waiting snd 20 % copay.

Apply , if case is rejected then your full money is rrfunded .

Pl update if case is accepted .

Do as Shailesh has advised with regards to your wife, if she is not covered with you under HDFC Optima Secure. She may not get any Critical Illness cover given her GBS history.

For yourself, buy a CI cover. Disease specific policies are meant for people with a history of that disease e.g diabetes policies are meant for people who are already diagnosed with diabetes, cancer insurance is meant for cancer survivors, etc.

Best Wishes,

Asad

Dear Rikin

You are right about critical illness plan as copensation if income loss .

Take critically illness cover of high value ,50 lakhs so that it compensates of income loss of atleast 5 years .

Right planning
