How much critical illness cover I should go for
We (me, my wife, 2 sons) are covered with my employer health insurance (3L) and I do have outside health insurance(5L) as well. Both doesnot cover critical illness. How much critical illness cover I should go for and which plan ?
Hello Kunal,
- Our recommendation is to have a minimum 10L floater per adult when you start in early 30s, and you gradually upgrade it to at least 15 Lakhs per adult before you hit 40 years of age. Sooner the better.
- Ideally, you should get a critical Illness cover that is equal to the gap between your net-worth today and the corpus you need to take care of your financial responsibilities (paying off loans, paying all financial goals like child education, enough corpus for retirement.)
Hope this helps.
Hello Vikrant.
Apologies for the delayed reply.
Yes, subject to terms and conditions, all health insurance policies cover hospitalization expenses related to all illnesses including Critical Illnesses.
Critical Illness policies solve a different financial risks that occur when a person suffers from a critical illness. Subject to terms and conditions, it provides fixed cash benefit in case the person covered is diagnosed with a Critical Illness. It helps cover loss or curtailment of earnings, increases regular medical expenses that are not covered by a health insurance policy.
Hi Team Beshak, it would be of great help if you would write an article about how to select the stand alone critical illness plan and comparison of the top policies.
Thanks in anticipation.
