Good afternoon,

I've a Max Bupa Critical illness policy in place, however, I understand that cancer will get covered only at Stage 3 or 4.

If this is true, should one buy a Cancer policy apart from Critical illness? It should not happen that Cancer is detected at an early stage but it does not get covered in critical illness policy.

Dear Bhavna

Ideally a combination of Health Insurance and Critical illness is recommended . However . You can supplement your health cover by taking an additional cancer cover .

It all depends on budget allocated towards health insurance .

Benefits of Health plus Critical plus cancer

  1. Health covers treatment cost of cancer at all stages as or expenses incurred by you .
  2. Critical insurance is a fixed benefit plan and pays sum assured on stage 3 or 4 of cancer. Purpose of critical insurance is compensation if income loss and not pay you treatment cost . Once availed, critical illness is over and continuity would be decided by insurer .
  3. Cancer insurance identifies cancer as long term treatment system hence promises to pay fixed amount as per stages of cancer. So it starred paying from early stages to terminal stage . Cancer insurance continues for full duration .

All three are independent products and offers compensation .

So if you have budget then go ahead .
