Hi, one of my friend's Dad who is 63years old has diabetes since 20 years. He is having medicines and not taking any insulin. 2 companies have rejected their proposal due to diabetes since a long period of time. They have been recommended to declare that he has diabetes since 10yrs instead of 20 so that the proposal is accepted by companies. Can anyone guide about the issues that will be faced during claims for wrongly declaring the date on which diabetes was diagnosed

If the person is taking medicines for 20 years, it will get disclosed at the time of hospitalisation and appear in the treatment records. It will not tally with the declaration made in the proposal form, if 10 years period is declared there. The claim will be rejected and policy cancelled abinitio without refund of premium paid.

Have you checked HDFC Ergo's Energy plan or Star Health' Diabetes Safe plan which are specialized plans for Diabetics people?
