Disclosing Medical History

07 Feb, 2022 by  Abhyu

My friend's college going son was treated for moderate case of depression in 2017. He is now off treatment since 2018 and is working in a full time job. He is looking to buy health insurance for himself. Should he disclose his medical history? He is no longer under medication and is free from illness.

Yes, this needs to be closed as it is a material information.

Most of the companies will not be able to offer policy to him, you can try applying to HDFC ergo as they were able to issue policy recently for similar history recently.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Dear Abhu

You must declare the incident of depression , this is a material information.

Most of insurer would offer cover with 2 year exclusion.

Best wishes
