HDFC Ergo Optima Restore vs HDFC Ergo Optima Secure?
I am planning to cover my parents (56 & 49) with a health insurance plan (I know am bit late). I had few queries.
- Should I go for HDFC Ergo Optima Restore vs HDFC Ergo Optima Secure?
- Should I include myself in the Family Floater plan - am 24? Or should I get one individually for myself.
- What is the recommended amount of family floater coverage I should take - 5L or 10L? (I know it is different for different family - but generally asking)
Will appreciate any responses regarding my situation for taking medical/health insurance. Or more advice regarding it.
Hello,
Beshak community has already compared it in the following article -
https://www.beshak.org/insurance/health-insurance/articles/hdfc-optima-secure-product-review/
This should give you clarity.
After 25 you need to have your independent policy so for one year you can be part of it and if you are willing to spend and also get tax benefit separately then let parents cover be separated.
Generally when you take it for parents make sure you consider their health status and pre existing ailment. If you are in a metro city then atleast opt for minimum 15-20 lacs cover so the relevant waiting periods would be covered in next 2,3 and 4 years.
Further you need more discussion then reach out to one of the advisor on this platform.

1. Optima restore is a fairly old plan and we'll established in the mkt. There are pros and cons to both plans. However the major issue is the room restriction in optima secure which is only a single pvt AC room....
2. You'll eventually have to move out of the plan as most of these plans will cover you only upto 25 so why not keep your parents separate and yourself into another plan.
3. General coverage should be 10 lacs as it covers major in hospitalization expenses regardless of the city you're in.
There are ways and means in which you can structure the policies in a way that will ensure you save some money and make the plan more efficient too.
You've the. Choice of scheduling a free consult.
Happy to guide you through it in detail so that you are well informed before buying the plan.
HDFC is a great choice, just to reassure.
Hi,
It is difficult to answer the questions like this without out understanding more about you and your parents. I will still try to answer in general terms
1) HDFC Ergo Optima Restore as well as Optima Secure both are good plans. Both have differences in features, benefits and premiums. You will have to evaluate what suits best to you.
2) Get a individual plan for yourself
3) A minimum of 10-15 Lacs base cover is essential. On top of that you may look to buy a super top-up.
It will be best if you could schedule a call with any of advisor on Beshak's Platform. You can click on the link https://www.beshak.org/advisor/?type=health to schedule a call.

Hi,
Answering your queries below
1.HDFC secure is a better version of restore with higher coverage and higher benefits except room rent restriction (single private AC room) for below 50 lacs policies
2. Recommended to buy a separate plan for yourself
3. Minimum 10 lacs sum assured is recommended.
