HDFC Ergo Policy Renewal

reply Share
10 Sep, 2022 by  Sahil Jatana (Coffee Nazi)

Hi. I have a HDFC Ergo Family Floater policy for me, my wife and toddler son.

I have had this policy since 2013 (erstwhile Appollo Munich). I added my wife and son to this in 2019. I am looking for some advice if i should continue with HDFC Ergo or move to another company.

There have been no claims on this policy ever. Over the years i have gradually increased the coverage to 50L with a 50L multiplier benefit.

Should I also increase the coverage beyond 50L? Some advice in helping understand the policy details and any fine print would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sahil, the plan is best in class that there is to offer, either wrt claims settlement or hospital network.

Apart from this I think you've got a pretty good coverage too, my recommendation is to continue in this.

Hi Sahil,

If your plan is Optima Restore, it is amongst the best plans in terms of coverage and also the claims/service. SI should be sufficient at least for the next 10 years.

Some suggestions though

Option 1) You may want to upgrade your plan (subject to the company's approval) to the newly launched Optima Secure plan which offers 2x coverage and also covers Ayush treatment. Also add the unlimited restoration rider @ additional 0.05% on your premium.

Option 2) If the company for any reason (eg: due to newly diagnosed health issues after the policy inception in 2013) doesn't approve the plan change, then at least add the unlimited restoration rider @ additional 0.05% on your premium.

Thank you,
