Health and Term Insurance declaration of Autoimmune disease
08 Oct, 2022

Hi,
I was diagnosed of Palmo plantar Psoriasis 4 years ago. The doctor mentioned it was auto immune disease and no permanent cure available. It was gone 2 years ago by help of regular vitamin tablets and lifestyle changes. Never needed any medication or steroids.
I took a term and health insurance policy last month and didn't mention this as a PED in either of these applications. Did I do a mistake? I didn't mention because I was told by sales people that any diseases for which there is no active medication, it needed not be treated as a PED. Moreover it is a skin disease they mentioned that it is perhaps not necessary to declare.
If this is a mistake, what options do I have to course correct? Please help.

Dear Ben,
The history of disease should have been mentioned in the proposal form as it could have claim issues in future. You currently have two options
1) Inform the insurer and then the insurer will take a call. Write to the insurer directly and not involve the sales executive.
2) You may continue to pay premium at your own risk that the insurer will not get to know about the disease.
