Health insurance choice: A very difficult proposition

reply Share
30 Dec, 2021 by  Sambaran Mitra

I have personal health insurance for me and my family (over and above company insurance). However, I made certain decisions based on my gut feel. For example, I chose individual insurance over family cover. I chose vanilla insurance over top-up/super-top-up, etc. Every year I doubt how much I should increase my health cover. I doubt whether I should junk health insurance and try building a corpus (based on some unsavoury experience with the insurance claim process).

I understand there may not be a general answer. I want to consult an expert on this for a personalized solution. Is Beshak the right place for it? May I know the charges?

There are many insurance companies offering 1crore Health insurance cover with no claim bonus benefit. Care, Nia Bupa, Aditya brila are few. The premium will be similar to an individual policy, also there is no need to worry about increasing coverage for the next 7-10 years.

Dear Sambaran ji,

You are not odd one in such scenario to decide how much cover to be taken for Mediclaim / health policies. I would suggest take a plan which does not impact your budget and have major benefits which you are looking for in case of any medical emergency which may arise. Also if possible make a combo of Base policy + Super Top up policy which has dual benefits Max coverage with affordable premium options.

Also just to share, when ever you opt any mediclaim / health policies do inform all best possible information with respect to health status to avoid any future claim related experiences
