Hi Aman,

It is advisable to go for a sum assured which can take care of your health needs even when you become old. It is advisable to take a cover between Rs.25-50 lakhs if not more.

If budget is a concern you can take a base policy with comprehensive coverage without any sub limits or room rent capping for Rs.10 Lakhs and take a super top up cover of 50 Lakhs with 10 lakhs deduction preferably from the same insurer and at about the same time.

Hope this address your concern

As you are young and works for PSU , you would have a group cover for all your needs .. But you do not own it and would have it till you are employed.

I recommend , you should also own a budgeyed self insurance fir any emergency .

So go for base of Rs 3 lakh plus super top up of Rs 10 lakh . This will cost you not more than Rs 12000 per year .
