Health insurance for albinism child
My cousin's son has albinism. He and 1 of my friend asked around some companies for health insurance for him, but they denied.
Need help to understand this. And also if I or we are missing out on something or some company that offers health insurance for albinism people.
Albinism is a congenital genetic disorder which means when the baby is born, the disorder is already present. That makes the condition a pre-existing condition for health insurance purpose.
The common health issues associated with Albinism are vision disorders as well as restrictions on outdoor activities.
Your cousin should take help of some good insurance advisors who can help represent the case with the insurance officer & issue a policy with Albinism as a permanent pre-existing condition. Not all the health issues that your cousin's son may face in life would be due to Albinism. Technically, they would need coverage & the same logic should be pleaded with the insurer. The govt insurance companies could be better bait.
Which city does your cousin stay in?
Hello Jimeet,
Getting insurance is tough for people with chronic conditions in India. You will have to be persistent and keep looking for options. Try (in order) Star Health, Aditya Birla Health, PSU Insurance companies - then try group policies under PSU banks (open an account if required) or various apps you have on your phone as a last resort.
