Health Insurance for children studying abroad
My children are studying University in Australia and are unlikely to visit india for at least 2 years if not more.
Their ages are 19 and 18.
They have an ongoing Individual policy of Current Base coverage (Individual) 25 lakh + NCB 12.50 lakh + NCB Super 25 lakh + Recharge benefit 25 lakh with Care.
However I don't think they are eligible to claim if there is any event out of the country, nor can they fly into India if treatment is required, due to the pandemic.
Questions:
1.Since they are not in the country, can they port to a plan which gives global coverage?
2.Is there any company which offers a policy for cashless claims in Australia, and do they have accredited hospitals there?
Dear Jasmer
No need to take a plan in India , take health insurance in Australia for your children .
There sre Global cover plan with names of hospitals in Australia but generally taken as part of travel insurance .
Students prefer local health insurance or group cover taken by university whrre they are studying . All university fees include Health insurance whivh is very economical and friendly .
So dn not waste your monry in paying premium in India.
Hope this clarifies

Thanks Anuj
Moreover , all universities in Australian provide group health cover for students and same is part of education fees .
This cover is very cheap approx 1000 Australian Dollar for full term .
Dear Jasmer,
As far as my knowledge is concerned there are few insurance plans with provide international coverage for Residents, however these plans offer cover with cappings for x number of days in a policy year when one moves in and out of India. Since your children are in Australia for education the insurance plans with global coverage wouldn't be helpful in your case.
Hence, It is advisable to take a private health insurance policy in Australia instead of going for a policy from Indian Insurer with international coverage.
Hope this addresses your concern
