Health insurance for Diabetic patient
Hi Experts,
I applied for family floater for Max Bupa Reassure. However, underwriters have declined cover for my wife who is diabetic patient & is on regular medication. (We are family of four, my age 53 years, wife's age 49 years, & kids aged 21 years & 15 years) My questions are:
1) should I try for family floater with other insurer (HDFC Ergo optima secure)? If the result is almost certain to be rejection for my wife due to PED, I would not like to waste everyone's time.
2) In such case, whether HDFC Ergo's product for diabetic would be good for my wife? I could not find any review of this product & it is not clear from policy wording whether there is any room rent cap in this product or whether premium is kept very high to compensate for the risk of PED. If anyone has reviewed this product, please advise.
3) What would be best approach for addressing this situation?
Appreciate help & guidance.
Dear Ankur
1. Take family floater for all except your wife .
2. Take separate plan for your wife after declaring all history .
This is an advise to all not to add a member with PED or senior citizen in family floater . It impact
Premium rate .
Family floater shpuld be taken for a healthy family .

I think you can do as follows -
1) Get yourself & your kids covered under Max Bupa Reassure if they have given you this option. It's a good product.
2) HDFC Ergo's Energy plan, Care Diabetes plan, Star Health Diabetes Safe could be some safe options for your wife. They are meant for diabetic patients. Another option for your wife could be Aditya Birla's Activ plan. They also give diabetes management from a wellness perspective and offer discounts on renewal of diabetes is in check. The initial premiums would be expensive though.
Feel free if you have any follow up questions. Thanks
