reply Share
18 Jul, 2023 by  Anisha Suresh

Hi Team Beshak,

I have a sister who is 27 year old, with locomotor disability-Cerebral Palsy. We are unable to find a health insurance for her. Both my parents are retired Govt Employees and do have a separate health insurance plan. I am myself a PSU employee. But since my sister is not dependent on me, she is neither able to claim Medical Insurance under my employer.

Please guide the possibilities.

Hello Anisha,.

Earlier this year, IRDAI had asked insurers to introduce special insurance products for people with disabilities and mental illness.

There are 3 insurance companies who have launched these special insurance products -

  • Reliance General introduced 'Specially Abled Health Insurance Plan'. This plan provides coverage to people with disabilities.
  • Oriental Insurance introduced 'Saksham Swasthya Policy'. This policy covers those with disabilities, HIV /AIDs.
  • National Insurance introduced 'Divyangjan Sanjeevani Policy'. This is specifically designed to cover people with disabilities, those with HIV /AIDs, those with mental illness/diseases.

You can get in touch with one of Beshak's experienced financial experts, who'll help you understand these plans better and answer any specific questions or concerns you may have. Sharing the link below for your ready reference.
