Health Insurance for Parents (above 60 years)
#HealthInsurance for parents (Sorry if the same has been covered before).
My father is 64 yrs and would be turning 65 on 30th July. Though he's fit now (completing 10K steps everyday), he has been suffering from Parkinson from last 1.5yrs. I checked with Aditya Birla from their customer care, they've refused to insure however Max Bupa is willing to proceed with Reassure health insurance plan with 3 year waiting period for Parkinson and also the person is saying that after premium payment, they will check each & everything and then proceed with policy issuance.
I then checked with him for my mother if I can take a kind of family floater plan where she can also be insured. Since my mother tested covid negative on 8th May, he's saying she'll have to wait for 3 more months. Moreover since my father would be turning up 65yrs soon, I don't want to wait any further.
Should I take the Max bupa insurance now (premium for 1 yr - 37K) and then at the time of renewing, I will add my mother to the same plan?
Lastly, they both are also covered from existing policies (just fyi):
1) PNB + Oriental 2lacs cover (11K premium due on 22nd Mar, 2022 now)
2) My employer's health cover (4 lacs)
Hi Akhil,
As recommended by Ashok in this thread above, individual cover is a better option for senior citizens.
Since your father has Parkinson's & is turning 65 soon, don't wait to buy his insurance. Cover him at the earliest.
Buy additional insurance for your mother after she completes the 90 day moratorium after COVID. Meanwhile, she anyways has about 6 lacs of Sum Insured under the 2 plans mentioned by you.
Best Wishes,
Asad Akbar
Hi Akhil
Did Maxbupa include Parkinson disease in your policy?
Because I am also looking for super top up policy for Parkinson patient
I came to know that almost all companies will not give policy for the Parkinson Patiens.
Even though if they give they exclude the Parkinson disease Permanently.
So I need a clarity whether Max bupa given policy with 3 years waiting
Hi Ahkil
I suggest that you take Separate policies for both as they are seniors citizens and may under go frequent hospitalization.
