Health Insurance - Porting for Senior Citizen

My mother has a 1 lakh base policy with New India Assurance and another base policy of 3 lakh again with New India Assurance. She is 69 years and has the following pre-existing illnesses - Blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes.

Also, have a Super top-up policy of 15 lakh with a deductible of 5 lakh.

I'm thinking of porting the existing 4 lakh policy to Niva Bupa Health Companion 5 lakh policy, the premium with loading is around 60k and I'm paying a premium of around 48.6k for the 1+3 lakh New India Assurance Policy.

There are some benefits like one-time refill Benefit and a No Claim Bonus which increases by 20% up to 100% of Base sum insured (also in case of claim no reduction in No claim bonus), the premium also includes the Safeguard feature.

Please suggest would it be a good idea to port to Niva Bupa Health Companion plan?

Regards,

Ravi

Hello Ravi,

I don't think Niva Bupa would accept your mother's policy considering her pre existing conditions. In case they are accepting her policy with loading charges and you are comfortable paying the same, I would strongly recommend you port out from your existing policy and get Niva Bupa's Health Companion policy.

Thanks!
