Insurance coverage for infant with a genetic condition

Are there any insurance companies which provide cover to infants born with an internal genetic condition? I have tried with a few insurance companies and they have denied the coverage without specifying the reason.

I believe IRDAI has directed the insurance companies not to deny the coverage to infants. How do we get the insurance company to provide the coverage ?

Dear Rahul

First , one clarification .

IRDA circular is about health insurance and not life . Please note that claim can not be denied in case of genetic disorder provided it was not known at the time of policy commencement.

For example , if child was normal when policy was taken but later gets a genetic disorder then health insurance company can not refuse . But genetic disorder was known at the time of policy commencement then claim can be denied and insurance can be terminated under non disclosure.

In case of life insurance, insurance will not be refused for all genetic disorders. But for some disorders , insurance will not be allowed.

Hope this clarifies
