Loading charges removal at the time of renewal

12 Dec, 2021 by  Bajrang Lal Bhura

I had taken max bupa reassure for me and my wife in December 2020. With the medical declarations I gave, company had charged loading premium of 1200 Rs. In December 2018, I had consulted a doctor due to dust allergey. Due to this reason , they charged the loading amount. Before paying this amount , I had written to them that I had disclosed this just for the sake of disclosure. I had taken medicines in OPD only. However, company refused to issue policy without taking loading charges. Now my renewal is due. Is there any way I can have these charges removed ?

Dear Bajrang,

You will have to reach out to your insurer and request for this. Incase, company's updated underwriting guidelines allow it they could waive off the loading amount.

We breathe insurance :)

Hello Bajrang,

Based on our past experience, we haven't seen insurers removing loading later from the policy. Like insurers do not apply premium loading when a customer's health condition deteriorates after buying the policy - there is a low chance they would decrease agreed premium loading because of improved health. But you never know for sure, so like Rohit said you can check with Niva Bupa by writing a detailed email with clear medical records or certificate that proves you are completely cured of the specific health condition.

Do let everyone here know how it went so that others can benefit from your experience. Thank you.
