Hi all,

I have been doing research to get a health plan for my parents and came down to two companies I'm liking: Manipal Cigna and Star Health. Both seem to be offering great features in at similar premiums. Anyone who has taken either in the past, can you please suggest me how was your experience with that? Or can an expert please guide me on how to choose the best one between the two?

As an Indian financial advisor, I advise you to carefully compare the features and terms of the senior citizen health insurance policies offered by ManipalCigna and Star Health before making a decision. Here are some key factors to consider:

Coverage: Check the policy details and exclusions to understand what is and is not covered by each policy. Consider your parents' specific health needs and ensure that the policy covers any pre-existing conditions or treatments they may require.

Premiums: Compare the premiums of the two policies to understand the cost of each option. Remember that the premium is not the only cost to consider – you should also look at the policy's co-payments, deductibles, and other charges.

Claims process: Find out how each company handles claims. Check the claims settlement ratio (the percentage of claims settled by the company) to get an idea of the company's track record. You may also want to ask about the process for filing and settling claims and any documentation that may be required.

Customer service: Consider the customer service offered by each company. Check customer service available through various channels, such as phone, email, and chat, and see if the company has a good reputation for resolving customer issues and queries.

Financial strength: It's important to choose a financially stable insurance company that can pay claims when needed. Check the company's ratings with independent rating agencies such as AM Best and ICRA to get an idea of the company's financial strength. You can also check the company's claims settlement and solvency ratios to get an idea of its ability to pay claims.

In addition to these factors, you may also want to consider the policy term, renewal options, and any additional features or benefits each policy offers.

Ultimately, the best health insurance policy for your parents will depend on their specific needs and budget. Therefore, it's important to carefully compare the options and choose a policy that provides the coverage they need at a price they can afford.

I hope this information helps you make an informed decision. If you have any further questions or want more guidance, don't hesitate to contact a financial advisor or insurance broker for assistance.
