multiple super top ups
Is it true that a super top up policy can be bought even without a base policy? Is is true that the deductible in a super top up policy is a matter of choice of the customer and not the insurance company as long as eligibility criteria for the product are met? Can I keep adding additional super top ups as and when needed, with different deductibles to increase my total health insurance cover to keep up with inflation in health insurance costs? For e.g first super top up with SI 5 lakhs and deductible 3 lakhs, a couple of years later a second super top up with SI 10 lakhs and deductible 8 lakhs and so on.
Dear Mr Manian
Super Top up is a type of health insurance where cover begins after a defined amount. The larger is the deductible , the lower will be premium.
Manian , wisdom says that you create a financial corpus for medical requirement upto Rs 5 lakh or more and buy a super Top up with Rs 5 lakh deductible.
1. Yes , a super Top up can be bought independently .
2. Yes , it is your choice. The larger is deductible , the lower will be premium .
3. Yes , you can buy multiple super Top ups but it is not recommended .
Hope this clarifies

Hi,
The only criteria is that you'll need to be eligible as per the underwriting guidelines of different plans which you are planning to take. Also try aligning the different top-up plans to be as close as possible so you get maximum benefits when there are multiple claims in a policy year.
Thank you
