My son is mentally retarded. Any insurance policy for him? I am ok with even permanent exclusion of mental problem

My son, age 16, is severly autistic, and borders on mental retardation since birth.
Does any policy offer health cover for him, even if means exclusion of mental illness.?

Hello Mr. Shah,
Apologies for the delayed response.
As per IRDAI regulations, insurers are supposed to evolve an underwriting approach that covers every kind of life, including people with disabilities. However, as of date, we are not aware of any insurer who specifically would cover your son.
We are not able to help you right now with a concrete answer. We have however noted your requirement and will come back as soon as we find something.
