Hi,

Underwriting for members with a history of Covid-19 purely depends on the severity. If the member got recovered on a home quarantine basis, the insurer may not necessarily ask for any additional requirements & the policy would get issued basis the self-declaration in the proposal form. However, in cases where hospitalization was needed, supportive medical documents are to be attached & thorough underwriting will be done before the insurance company takes a decision about the policy issuance. Also if the member has a negative covid-19 report, then most companies are accepting the application after 15 days from the date of the test report.

Hope this answers your query...

Hi,

This will be case to case basis. It will all depend on how long did the patient take to recover from Covid. Incase there was hospitalization discharge summary would be required to be submitted. Even if there was no hospitalization one would still be required to declare the same in the proposal form.

Dear Kiruthika

Agree with both experts , underwriting will be done on the basis of Covid hospitalisation report .

Most cases are getting accepted without any question.

Hope this clarifies
