Niva Bupa Reassure vs HDFC Ergo Optima Restore

Hello,

First of all, thanks for running this community. I am planning to take a family floater health insurance policy for myself, my wife and my daughter. Few things that I am looking for is no capping on the room rent and the restoration benefit.

The two policy that stood out were Niva Bupa Reassure and HDFC Ergo Optima Restore. Now I am bit confused towards Niva Bupa due to their negative reviews online though it sounds better on paper than HDFC Ergo.

Does anyone have any views or suggestions for me. There are few more questions that I’ll ask later.

Thanks in advance

Dear Nishant,

The two plans look very similar but they have differences in terms of features and benefits they offer. Like you mentioned the No room caping - In Optima Restore there is no restriction on any kind of room. In case of Reassure the room allowed is any type of room(except suite or above). Similarly incase of Restore benefit in Optima Restore it is available once in a year while in ReAssure it is available for unlimited times a year.

But these should not be only reason for you to make a choice of the plan. One needs to know your past and current medical history, city of residence, network hospital, budget to close on a plan. The premiums of the two plans vary quite a bit currently.

Incase, you are looking for a suggestion and a professional advisor who render his/her services for post sales and claim support you may get in touch with Beshak Community Advisor for a 1-2-1.

Writing this to helps others. My Experience with Max Bupa is very horrible. Unfortunately, I was admitted to non-network Hospital during Covid time and I have do reimbursement for 3L Claim. They showed me one hell. Finally I need to file a complaint with IRDA to get reimbursement. Even after IRDA passing order to pay me within 30 days; I need to wait till 29 days and remind it on 30th day to get my claim. They rejected my claim quoting a local Government Order that caps a hospital bills for covid bed. In reality, none follows it as it was difficult to get bed itself. Max Bupa tried every bit to reject my legitimate claim and I cannot even talk to claims team and they only send one liner emails saying it was paid as per GO ( which is 10% of my claim amount). So I say BIG No Max Bupa / Niva Bupa .. Its premiums will be cheap so does its service will be cheap too.

I totally get your quandary. I too weighed up between Niva Bupa Reassure and HDFC Ergo Optima Restore. Both have pros and cons. For daily health issues, I found asking for advice at "AI Health Mind"(https://www.gate2ai.com/tools/healthcare/ai-health-mind) super helpful. Their insights were beneficial.
