I'm in the process of porting my mother's health insurance from Oriental to HDFC Ergo Optima Secure. She had made a PED declaration for knee pain back in 2011. There have been no claims made. HDFC counter offer is asking for a waiting period of 3 years wrt Osteoarthritis. What should I do?

Unless you are looking at reducing the waiting period to less than 3 years, HDFC is a good provider - your best option is to accept the condition with higher premiums.

Hi,

This counter offer is to avoid making claim for any impending knee replacement surgery. You can discuss with your doctor once and check if there's any surgery required in the near future (i.e. within the next 3 years). Based on it you can decide whether to port or not.

What is the SI + NCB of you existing policy with Oriental?

Thank you
