Porting of mediclaim policy

Dear Sir

I am having National meiclaim Family Floater Policy since last 4 years, now I want to port my Policy to HDFC , but recently my wife has been diagnosed with Fibroids so she may have to go for operation of removal of uterus, so my question is new Company HDFC will accept my porting request & all my benifits of 4 year that I have completed in National insurance will continue in new cimpany

Dear Jay,

Make full disclosures in your proposal form to HDFC & let their underwriter decide about your application on merit. I feel the chances are slim that they will allow you to port inwards with all continuity benefits. They may either decline your porting request or may offer to levy a waiting period on uterus related treatment.

It is best to avoid porting at this juncture.

Family floater of 2 person consisting of husband & wife , is it Possible 1 person can port out to other Insurance company

Hi Jay,

I think you should make the porting request for both members with full disclosure. It's 50-50, my sense is that your porting will be successful. If it doesn't, HDFC will offer to port only one and leave the other one out. That will solve your second question.

Remember to renew the policy for the unported member in National Insurance.
