rheumatoid arthritis and muscular dystrophy

i'm applying to purchase health insurance for myself. i'm healthy without any issue for any sort.

however, in the application, there is a question asking if there is any family history of rheumatoid arthritis and muscular dystrophy. my mother has been diagnosed with both these.

my agent is saying not to disclose this as it is not a big issue and all insurance companies will automatically reject the application if the answer to this question is "yes".

  1. is is ok to answer "no" to this question (assuming i won't disclose this if i am ever admitted into a hospital)
  2. is there any other way around this - are there any companies that will still provide health insurance notwithstanding this "issue".

thanks in advance.

Hi AV,

Please make honest declaration. If the question specifically asks family history please disclose.

It is always advisable to give correct answer for each questions asked. So give the correct answer. It depends on company's underwriting guidelines whether to accept proposal or not. But if you declare it truly and your proposal get accepted than in future you will not face any difficulty in claims.
