Hi Riya,

In India we have almost 34 Non-life insurance companies providing health insurance and every companies has it's own terms & conditions.

I would suggest you to write down things which you want in your policy to be included and see which companies are providing after shortlisting 2-3 companies based on various parameters and service.

Then you can choose which one you want and what you want in your health insurance.

Hope it helps !!

Regards,

Kaushik

Hi Riya,

There are different covers and add-ons that the policyholder can add to their health insurance. But here's a list of things that are not generally covered by the health insurance policies in India.

Cosmetic surgery: Since the aim of health insurance is to cover health injuries or fatalities, cosmetic surgeries do not fall in that category.

Treatments solely for diagnostic evaluation: The cost for pathological tests like sugar, USG, ECG, etc., are covered in the plan, if it is part of your treatment. However admission purely for diagnostic reasons with no required line of treatment is not covered.

Health Supplements: As important as it is to your daily meal plan, health supplements and protein shakes do not look much like a health emergency and therefore aren’t a part of the health insurance.

Extra Charges incl. non consumables: Your health bill will include service charges, etc., which will be excluded from the insurance. Sometimes, consumables may not be covered. However these are covered in certain plans, for example plans at VITAL covers all such expenses.

At Vital, we wanted to keep our insurance simple and with as less limits as possible. While we cannot help the standard exclusions because those are regulations from the IRDAI, we have not sub limits or co pays, no limits on ICU charges and cover all non-consumables too.

Hi folks. I’m really grateful to you for sharing the info on the topic. It’s so reasonable for me. Tbh, I’ve never seen so many selfless people on the entire web. Thanks a lot. I guess I should also ask my doctor this question.
