Dear Rohit
There are portability guidelines by IRDA and insurance companies have to work as per guideline .
New insurer need to honour continuity benefit and PED time period .
They can either accept the proposal or reject the proposal but they can not set new guidelines .

Apparently they are following their own internal guideline. Have it or leave it. Entire SI is been for PED is been given a fresh exclusion period of 4 yrs. Two yrs spent in earlier policy is not getting considered.

Hello Rohit,
This is surprising! As per IRDAI portability guidelines - you have a right to get credit for Pre-existing Disease. You must ask the insurer to give you detailed reasons in writing for this exception over IRDAI guidelines. If not, then you may like to file an official grievance with the insurance companies grievance office before you escalate to IRDAI. Of course, the other option is to look for another available insurer.
