Hello Nitin,

Health insurance doesn't work this way. You can't buy it just because you want to undergo a surgery. Health insurance is like an emergency loan. Like you cannot get a loan when you have a bad credit score, if you’re diagnosed with a serious disease and desperately want health insurance, it might become difficult for you to get one. This is because insurers are under no obligation to offer you coverage. If you’re too risky for them to cover, they may straightaway reject your proposal or issue you a cover but with a lot of restrictions and expensive premiums.

Also, when you buy a health insurance policy, it opens up to a full cover in a phased manner. For the initial 30 days, it does not cover any treatment for or related to any medical condition, except for accidents. And if you have any pre-existing diseases, i.e., any condition, ailment, injury, or disease diagnosed or treated by a doctor 48 months prior to the date of issue of your health insurance policy, there is a waiting period of 2-4 years applicable. So, you'll be able to claims for pre-existing conditions only after the waiting period is over.

If you're planning to buy health insurance now, make sure to inform the insurer about your ent disorder and any other medical history. Based on their underwriting, they may decide to accept/reject your proposal or apply loading to cover the risk.

Hope this clarifies! Thank you!
